With the launch of the provincial COVax booking system today, residents born in 1941 or before can book an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Appointments can be made either online at www.ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by calling 249-494-5631. Anyone with general vaccination questions can call the Ontario Public Vaccination Information Line at 1-888-999-6488.

“With the launch of today’s provincial system, eligible residents can either book appointments themselves, or loved ones can do it on their behalf,” explained Dr. Rosana Salvaterra, Medical Officer of Health. “We know there is a great deal of excitement out there to get vaccinated, but rest assured there is plenty of vaccine available, and once you become eligible, you remain eligible for all vaccination clinics going forward.”

All you need to book your appointment is your Ontario photo health card. For those booking online, you will need an email address. Expired Ontario photo health cards will be accepted, however if your card is marked as lost or stolen, you will have to call 249-494-5631 to book your appointment. Old red and white Ontario health cards can only be used for booking appointment over the phone by calling the Ministry line 1-888-999-6488. Online appointments can be booked 24/7, phone service at 249-494-5631 is available from Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The COVax system does not accept pre-registrations and is pre-loaded with everyone’s Ontario health card number. Only residents who meet the eligible age of 80+ years will be able to book an appointment. There are approximately 7,200 local adults who are 80+ years, and there is enough capacity to vaccinate them before the end of March. Those who are not yet eligible for vaccination are asked not to call the booking line to ensure residents who are 80+ can access this service.
