Safe Travels Program
It is with sadness that we announce the cancellation of the Safe Travels program as of Friday, November 9th, 2018.
In the spring, in partnership with Selwyn Township and Community Care, we were successful in our application to the Community Transportation Grant program which would have seen Safe Travels grow and expand and have secure funding for the next 5 years. Since that time, the Conservative Government was elected in Ontario. With the time and effort that it takes to switch governments, there has not been a decision as to whether the new government will continue with this program.
Unfortunately, without that funding, we are unable to continue to offer this very costly program. The monthly financial costs of the program is approximately $10,000.00 ($450 per day plus 5% GST).
We continue to speak with all levels of government in attempt to source secure funding. We understand the importance of Safe Travels and the barriers to employment, training, health care and social growth that are broken down through its existence.
We hope to be able to offer this program again in the near future and appreciate your understanding as we continue work to source secure funding.
