TO: THE MEMBERS OF THE CURVE LAKE FIRST NATION (the “First Nation)
TAKE NOTICE that a Community Approval Vote of the voters of the First Nation pursuant to the Community Approval Vote Process will be held on the 27th day of October, 2018 to determine if the voters of the First Nation who are 18 years of age or over, determined on the date of the Community Approval Vote.
The following question will be asked of the Voters of the First Nation to vote for one of the three options by secret ballot, as follows:
As a Voter of the Curve Lake First Nation, I am in favour of the following option for the Per Capita Distribution of the Williams Treaties Settlement Funds to each status member of Curve Lake First Nation.

MAIL-IN BALLOTS will be provided to voters of Curve Lake First Nation for who a mailing address is provided to the CAV Officer by the First Nation and to any other voter requesting one. |
IF YOU PREFER TO VOTE ELECTRONICALLY, YOU MUST REGISTER To register to vote electronically, please visit your First Nation’s website https://onefeather.ca/nations/curvelake and follow the instructions provided. You will be required to provide your Band Registry Number (Status Card), Date of Birth and an email address and phone number. If you encounter any problems or are unable to complete this registration process, contact the CAV Officer immediately. |
On September 10th, 2018, the Curve Lake First Nation Council amended the Community Approval Vote for the purpose of the Per Capita Distribution of the Williams Treaties First Nation Settlement Agreement, with the acceptance of the vote being based on a majority vote.
A voter information package will be mailed to all voters for whom a mailing address is available. The information package includes a letter from the Chief, copy of the Curve Lake First Nation Community Approval Vote Process, mail-in and electronic voting materials and instructions and direction on where and to whom further questions may be directed.
A copy of the list of voters and community approval vote process is posted and available at the Government Services Building and the Curve Lake Post Office and on the members-only portal of the First Nation website at http://sdp.curvelakefirstnation.ca/dms/login
AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that sections 5.2 and 5.3 of the Community Approval Vote Process provide that a Member of the First Nation may apply to the CAV Officer within ten days of posting of the list of voters to have the list of voters revised if such Member believes that:
1.0 the name of a voter has been omitted from the list of voters; or
2.0 the name of a voter is incorrectly set out or should not be included on the list of voters.
