Osh Ga Moog Variety expansion
Curve Lake, ON (September 4 2018) – This month Osh Ga Moog Variety will enhance it’s
assortment of retail offerings to celebrate and support the creativity, history and culture of Curve Lake
First Nation* indigenous people by showcasing authentic Indigenous and Non-Indigenous inspired
designs and local artisan talents for purchase.

Osh Ga Moog (which means crossroads in “Anishinaabemowin) Variety has been a local gathering
place serving the Curve Lake community for over 10 years. Owned and operated by Lisa & John Wager,
his grandson John Wager and partner Cherianne Cybulskie will manage the gift shop together with
relatives. Customers will be able to directly support inspired designs and local artisans featured on
consignment.

The gift shop is pleased to highlight native handmade collections by John’s Hand Carved Woodenware,
Black Duck Wild Rice, Randy Knott’s Paintings, Like it R Knott, Hand Loomed Bracelets by Nancy
Burnham as well as locally made porcupine quill earrings, dream catchers and more from various Curve
Lake members. “As a couple, this is a business venture we have been considering for quite sometime.
We’ve been eager to have a space where we could showcase First Nations Makers and highlight local
talent.” says Cherianne Cybulskie with a wide grin.

Their business plan includes displaying, exhibiting and showcasing individual artists on a rotating basis
to continue to highlight and educate visitors. All items are on consignment basis and available for
immediate purchase. “For us, it’s a dream come true. For myself, I have a strong passion to make this
accessible for purchase to the public” adds Cherianne. The Curve Lake community has been highly
encouraging and excited about the young couples’ endeavour, as the gift shop addition brings a new and
exciting dimension to the existing variety store selection.

A soft opening is scheduled for September 15-16th during the annual 2-day Curve Lake First Nation Pow
Wow with regular business hours commencing early November. Gift shop hours will be 9am-5pm
Friday-Sunday with complimentary gift-wrapping services provided. The address is 3 Weequod St
