Please be advised that construction of the rock fill widening of the James A. Gifford Causeway (County Road 14) will commence on Monday, November 18, 2019, continuing until March 15, 2020. Additional construction activities will continue through the fall and winter of 2020/2021.

As the result of water temperature levels in Chemong Lake reaching the optimum range of less than five (5) degrees Celsius, construction has been authorized to proceed earlier than anticipated.

This is the first phase of a multi-year plan to rehabilitate the Causeway that will involve completion of the rock fill widening and the subsequent rehabilitation of the existing 2-lane roadway and Chemong Bridge.
Please note that these dates may fluctuate due to weather constraints and other factors. Every effort will be made to keep agencies and residents informed of any significant changes.
