The Anishinabek Police Service has been notified of incidents involving fraud/scams through telephone calls.

Members of our community have received threatening phone calls from individuals who are portraying themselves as an officer with the RCMP and/or Anishinabek Police Service.  In one instance, the call display identified as the Anishinabek Police Service calling where the caller stated that they were with the Anishinabek Police Service and demanded the individual pay an amount of money through bitcoin or be arrested.

Police will NEVER demand or ask for ANY amounts of money

Should you receive one of these calls or a similar call:

• DO NOT SEND MONEY  
• Report the incident to 1-888-310-1122

If you are unsure, attend the detachment and speak with an officer in person who will look into the legitimacy of the phone call.
